    摘要:

        Climate change has had, and continues to have a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of Indigenous populations of Canada. In particular, the Inuit community of Rigolet in the Nunatsiavut territory of Labrador has experienced some of the most severe changes compared to the rest of Canada. Changing weather patterns, and warmer waters have affected ice cover in the winter - limiting the community’s ability to engage in traditional practices of hunting and gathering, and ultimately affecting their physical, mental, spiritual, social, and cultural health. This talk will describe a participatory approach involving community, government, and a group of interdisciplinary researchers to develop a community-centred two-way monitoring program (including a web and mobile application) to track health, land, and environment.

    Professor Daniel Gillis is now an assistant professor and statistician in the school of computer science in University of Guelph, Canada.
